Central Coast family law firm, Seton Family Lawyers, has been recognised at the prestigious Australian Law Awards, taking home two major accolades, Regional/Suburban Law Firm of the Year and Wellness Initiative of the Year.
These awards highlight the firm’s exceptional contributions to both the legal industry and the well-being of its professionals, and bring attention to the strength and excellence of our region’s legal community, on a national stage. In its 24th year, The Australian Law Awards were celebrated at a black-tie gala ceremony on 30 August 2024, at The Star, Sydney.

The Regional/Suburban Law Firm of the Year award acknowledges Seton Family Lawyers for its exceptional client service, legal expertise, and community involvement in the Central Coast.
The Wellness Initiative of the Year award honours the firm’s innovative Ironbark Initiative, which supports the mental health and overall well-being of its team and the broader community.
Michael Seton, Solicitor Director of Seton Family Lawyers, highlighted the importance of prioritising mental health and well-being, sharing how his personal experience helped guide the firm’s direction.
“In 2016, I was on the verge of burnout, but with the support of those closest to me, I made crucial changes to prioritise mental health,” said Michael.
“By 2021, I realised I was overworked and losing my passion for law. With the help of my support network, I realigned my work with my values, leading to the creation of Seton Family Lawyers.”
Understanding the emotional strain inherent in family law practice, and drawing from personal experience, Michael developed the Ironbark Initiative in 2023.
This initiative empowers team members to prioritise their health and well-being by subsidising self-care and providing paid hours of leave to contribute to family harmony and support local charities and community organisations.
The initiative reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment and setting new standards for workplace well-being in the legal sector.
Michael also expressed his deep gratitude for the awards and the recognition of his team.
